Two Rocky Mount Gryphons are ranked in the top 10 wrestlers in the State by retrorankings.com.
Gryphon senior Chandler Phillips is the #3 ranked 3-A wrestler in the state at 140 pounds. Phillips has held that position for the past two weeks, moving up from #4 to start January. Wrestling at 135, 140 and 145 this season, he has compiled an impressive 27-2 record.

Sophomore Gryphon Janicento Williamson is listed as the state's 10th ranked 171 pound wrestler in 3-A. He has been as high as number five this year. Williamson improved his record to 24-8 with four wins at the Thomas Cowles Duals January 16.

Congrats to JK and Chandler on their state rankings. Hopefully, they can make it through regionals and back to states.
Mason Holt sounds like he's having a great year & only a freshman.
Several other wrestlers are doing well & the team qualified for the state tournament again. Coach Jones is turning out some very good wrestlers.
I guess Ihigh is too focused on Mabry to post anything about the wrestling team this year. What a shame. The basketball team is ranked, Mabry going to set a scoring record (even though Phil did it in 3 years vs. TM's 4). That's great and I applaud their efforts. Here's to hoping we see a State Basketball Championship Team.
But I guess the wrestlers don't get a mention on the school's ihigh page because of it. That's too bad. They carried your stuff for a long time.
Your brother gets 100 wins, ranked in the state. JK is only a sophomore and he's ranked. The team qualifies for the state tournament for the 4th or 5th year? That's great stuff.
